General Notes: Wife - Helena Cohn

She was married to Zygmunt Heryng, socialist, economist, translator, a nd publisher. Helena and Zygmunt were among the earliest members of t he first socialist circles in Warsaw. In 1879 Zygmunt and Helena wer e arrested and placed in Pavilion X of the Warsaw Citadel. When Zygmu nt was sentenced to exile in Siberia, Helena voluntarily joined him . They were married in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia. In 1883 they returned t o Warsaw. Helena was an active member of the PPS (Polsish Socialist P arty) and after the split within the party in 1906, she joined the rig ht wing nationalist faction of the party. The Polish government posth umously awarded her with the Medal of Independence, on December 19, 19 30.

After Helena's death Zygmunt Heryng married again. HIs second wife wa s Natalia Politur and they had a daughter named Halin, born 1920.
