General Notes: Husband -

Morris Izik was a very very learned and sharp person; very learned in Torah with strong convictions and he was a fighter for the truth. He could read from the Torah; and lead prayer services in his synogogue and would be the person to blow the shofar on Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur. He resided next to a forest near Cadea, Austro-Hungary. It was an extremely small village near Tashnad. Part of his house served as an inn where they served refreshments to lumber workers who were cutting timber nearby.
A story related by Yosef Bosci was that when he was a young child, Morris Izik Jonas asked him what he was learning in school. After answering, Morris Izik Jonas gave Yosef Bosci a pat on the cheek and maybe even some candy as a reward.

General Notes: Wife -

Accordding to Yosef Bosci Ida (nee Hoffman) Jonas was a tender, noble, and extremely good hearted person who had the attribute of kindness. During World War Two, she and Yosef Bosci were int he ghetto together and Ida gave Yosef Bosci her piece of bread. He didn't want ot deprive Ida of her food, but she insisted because, "You're young and you need to eat." She used to send food to poor people and a sister of hers (Fannie. Yiddish: Hendel) who became needy and Ida would provide her with cheese and butter (among other things) which apparently were considered luxury items at that time. Ida would pick strawberries that grew in the forest. Yosef bosci relates that these strawberries were very delicious). Ida would distribute the picked strawberries amongst the poor.
