General Notes: Husband -

I live in Redondo Beach, California; previously in Portland Oregon. Ii have a 6 year old cat called Mr Magic. I have travelled a lot, living in Brazil, Australia, India, as well as New York and LA......working as a radio DJ, journalist and pre-school teacher!!! I am definitely not an office person!

I grew up mostly in England and went to college at Cambridge University, where I read History. My brother and sister live in England but my Dad's side of the family are mostly in Montreal, Canada.
I like baseball, soccer, photography, music (everything from opera to jazz and Blues), chess, science fiction and pretty much anything out of the ordinary!

Miklos (my granddad) came to New York City around 1920 - after fighting for the Austria-Hungary army in WWI- and drove a taxi at night to pay for going to study Chiropractic during the day. He was interested in medecine, specifically Holistic medecine. He qualified as a Chiropractic.

When he was visiting a friend in Montreal, he left some of his papers behind, and was not allowed back over the border into the USA, so he moved to Montreal!!!! He started working as a chiropractic, but the laws changed making it difficult to practice that form of medecine; so he started working in a bakery. Soon he took over as manager and then owner of Metropolitan Bakery.

He married Irene Biri shortly after they met; he was a good friend of her cousin.

The bakery did really well during the Depression and grand-dad, now known as Nicholas, bought a small house on Lake Memphramagog in the Eastern Townships, and also an island in the lake. Nicholas had intense blue eyes, a balding head and liked to wear a trilby hat. In the winter he wore a long brown coat. He was smartly dressed! He loved playing with children, and some of my fondest childhood memories are of "Granddad" taking me and my brother Marc to the park.
