General Notes: Husband - Marek [Stefan Napierski] Eiger

Poet, translator and essayist. Editor of the journal Anateum (1938-19 39). He used the pen name Stefan Napierski and converted to Catholici sm. He was married to Irena Tuwim (b. August 22, 1899, Lodz; d. Decem ber 7, 1987, Warsaw) although he was a homosexual. Irena was a siste r of the poet Julian Tuwim. Napierksi was arrested by the Gestapo i n November, 1939, was placed in Pawiak prison and died on April 2, 194 0 in a mass execution by the Germans in the village of Palmyra, sout h of Warsaw.
