General Notes: Wife - Stefanja (Rachela) Heryng

(Born 1881, born on a ship on the Yenisei River, Siberia; died 1937) . Stefanja was a dedicated socialist like her parents. She was marri ed to Maksymilian HOrwitz in Krakow in 1905 (JRI). According to Joann a Olczak-Ronikier, in her book In The Garen of Memory (2004) Jozef Pil zudksi was a witness at their wedding. Maks (born September 6, 1877 , Warsaw; died September 20, 1937, Moscow) was a well known socialist/ communist revolutionary. He used the pseudonym Henryk Walecki and wa s also known as "Comrade Wit." He was a member of the PPS left wing f action and later a member of the Polish Communist Party from its found ation in 1918. He was also very active in the Comintern (Communist In ternational). He was executed in 1937 during Stalin's pruges of the P olish Communist Party. According to Olczak-Ronikier, Stefanja probabl y died around the same time as Maks in the purges but her exact fate i s unknon. Stefanja also used the surname "Bielsk." Stefanja and Mak s HOrwitz had three children.
