General Notes: Husband - Morris Izik Jonas

Morris Izik was a very very learned and sharp person; very learned i n Torah with strong convictions and he was a fighter for the truth. H e could read from the Torah; and lead prayer services in his synogogu e and would be the person to blow the shofar on Rosh Hashannah and Yo m Kippur. He resided next to a forest near Cadea, Austro-Hungary. I t was an extremely small village near Tashnad. Part of his house serv ed as an inn where they served refreshments to lumber workers who wer e cutting timber nearby.
A story related by Yosef Bosci was that when he was a young child, Mor ris Izik Jonas asked him what he was learning in school. After answer ing, Morris Izik Jonas gave Yosef Bosci a pat on the cheek and maybe e ven some candy as a reward.

General Notes: Wife - Ida Hoffman

Accordding to Yosef Bosci Ida (nee Hoffman) Jonas was a tender, noble , and extremely good hearted person who had the attribute of kindness . During World War Two, she and Yosef Bosci were int he ghetto togethe r and Ida gave Yosef Bosci her piece of bread. He didn't want ot depr ive Ida of her food, but she insisted because, "You're young and yo u need to eat." She used to send food to poor people and a sister o f hers (Fannie. Yiddish: Hendel) who became needy and Ida would prov ide her with cheese and butter (among other things) which apparently w ere considered luxury items at that time. Ida would pick strawberrie s that grew in the forest. Yosef bosci relates that these strawberrie s were very delicious). Ida would distribute the picked strawberrie s amongst the poor.
