He was editor of the assimilationist newspaper Rozwaga. During Worl d War II he was the editor of an underground pro-Polish assimilationis t newspaper called Zagiew [The Torch], which was the organ of Zwiaze k Mlodziezy Polskiej Pochodzeniu Zydowskiego [Association of Polish Yo uth of Jewish Descent]. At this time also he was the head of one of t he divisions of the Jewish Police, or SP [Sluzba Porzadkowa - literall y "order of service"] in the Warsaw Ghetto. His official title was : head of the chancellery of the KSP [Kierownictwo Sluzby Porzadkowej ] [SP Headquarters].
