I was born in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. I remember going by Uncle Mike an d Aunt Mary's house, this is were my grandmothers family would meet t o get together with all their familles... My Grandmother (Frieda Berna th Wartenberg) came to American with her sister abt 1915, Teresa (Rose ) Bernath Mervis, another sister Esther Bernath Baum joined them ab t 1920 they all settled in Chicago, IL..Mariam ( Mary) Bernath Jonas c ame to be with her sisters in 1921, abt 1923 met Milton (Mike) at a s ocial club for the young Jewish people in the area..they married on 1 4 June, 1924 Frieda, Rose , Esther and Mary were very close, they wer e always visiting back and forth...
I am excited abt finding a Jonas connection ... after my Grandmother p assed (1953) away..the sisters moved away... Aunt Rose and her husban d Morris Mervis to Cleveland Ohio, Esther died in 1941, Aunt Mary an d Uncle Mike to Palo Alto, CA. and soon lost direct track of them... t hey kept in touch with my Uncle Leo, and he in turn would keep my Mo m updated ... now they are both gone know Pearl Rita passed away in 1 993...
Aunt Mary and Uncle Mike are buried by my Grandparents I have a phot o of their Headstone ... they were buried in Waldheim Jewish Cemetery , Forest Park, Cook Co., Il.
