He moved to Rzeszow, Pzewworsk, and possibly lived in Dukla. His nam e is mentioned in the donors' list of the book Limudei Hateva (1837) . He is listed there as Shmuel ZW"M Kohn, living in Rzeszow. Szmul w as married twice. His first wife was Freide Frenkel, daughter of Rabb i Abraham Zeev Wolf Frenkel of Rzeszow, later of Przeworsk. He wa s a Chasidic rabbi and all the evidence indicates that Szmul was als o a Chasid. For example, Szmul and Freide had a daughter named Reche l who was married to Rabbi Abraham Horowitz, a grandson of Rabbi Nafta li Tzvi Horowitz, founder of the Ropshitz Chassidic dyansty.
Szmul's second wife was Geishe Berman, daughter of Samuel Berman.
Szmul married Freide Frenkel, daughter of Rabbi Abraham Zeev Wolf Frenkel and Unknown.
