  General Notes:

Like her husband, she was an active worker for the yishuv movement an d was generous in helping others. She gave shelter to Eliezer ben Yeh uda and his wife when they first arrived in Eretz Israel, letting the m stay in the Pines home. She founded the women's organization Ezra t Nashim in Jaffa in 1891 and later a Jerusalem branch in 1895. She t ook over the operation of the asylum for the mentally ill (Beit Hamach ase) in 1902, which she had received from her cousin Rabbi Joseph Rivl in.


Chaya married Yechiel Michel Pines, son of Noach Pines and Hinda Cohn. (Yechiel Michel Pines was born on Oct 17, 1843 in Ruzhany, Brest, Belarus and died on Mar 15, 1913 in Jerusalem, Israel.)
