Cohn, Filon Samuel [Stanislaw]
- Born: Jul 4, 1852, Kazimierz Dolny, Lubelskie, Poland
- Marriage (1): Galewska, Sara Chana in 1887 in Lodz, Poland
In his birth record his father, Mozesz Wolf Cohn, has the occupation o f handlarz [dealer/shopkeeper] and is described as living in Kzimierz , but Warsaw is not mentioned. Filion Samuel marriedj Sara Chana Gale wska in 1887 in Lodz. He was a doctor in Lodz. He is possibly burie d in the Warsaw Jewish Cemetery. This Stanislaw Kohn in the cemeter y died February 10, 1925 and lived 72 years but his wife's name is no t Sura Chana. From the tombstone it appears to be Julia, maiden nam e Kernbaum, (d. March 6, 1925) age 65. The database says Julia's fath er's name was Stanislaw, but this must really be her husband since the ir ages are so close together (seven years apart) and he could not hav e a daughter at age 7. The same tombstone lists Zofia, maiden name Ko nowna (which means "daughter of Kohn") who died September 20, 1917. S he must be the daughter.
However, we don't know if this Stanislaw Kohn buried in the cemetery i s actually Stanislaw the son of Mojzesz Cohn, unless we know that he d ivorced his wife Sara Chana nee Galewska, or that she died, and he rem arried. In the grave next to Stanislaw there is the grave of a husba nd and wife: Izydor Kon (died March 24, 1921) and Ewelina nee Hejma n (died October 15, 1915). But we don't know who they are.
Also in Warsaw there was a woman named Emilja Kernbaum married to Mak s Cohn. She died on June 12, 1929, when she was a widow. Probably sh e was a sister of Julia Kernbaum mentioned above but we don't know wh o this Maks Cohn is. The Nasz Przeglad death notice of Julia Kohn ne e Kernbaum confirms her husband's name was Stanislaw Kohn.
