  General Notes:

She converted to Catholicism, in secret, when she was 15, being baptiz ed by her piano teacher. Four years later she told her mother. She e ntered the Benedictine Abbey in Lemberg in 1890, along with her pian o teacher. When she entered The monastery she was advised to keep he r Jewish birth a secret so she was know as "Maria Kaliska." She too k the religious name of Sr. Izydora. In 1922 she was elected abbess o f the community. Mother Izydora wrote a short, unpublished autobiogra phy. In 1946 her community moved from Lwow (Lvov) to Krzeszow in Sile sia, now part of Poland.
